Hilda Solis, labor secretary nominee, apparently shares not only the last name of Carlos from Desparate Housewives (don't ask why I know this), but also his penchant for tax evasion. In what is becoming a daily occurrence, another tax-scandal in Obama's camp has been uncovered. Granted, it was not so much Hilda, as her husband, who apparently just paid $6,400 to settle a tax lien. White House secretary Gibbs said Solis wasn’t involved in the liens and shouldn’t be blamed. “We’re not going to penalize her for her husband’s mistakes,” Gibbs told reporters at the White House. “Her tax returns are in order.”
Oh good, so only her husband doesn't believe in taxes. All is well.
Honestly, this is not even surprising anymore. Obama's sterling reputation is already in tatters, the coolness factor has worn off as all those unemployed during Bush are somehow still unemployed, and one can only hope that the next scandal involves at least something more juicy than some small-time IRS scammery.
